Tohekura is for all levels of competency in Te Reo, from beginners to advanced. We encourage you to register regardless of your level of fluency in Te Reo, as all needs will be catered for. The Kura reo is for Whakatōhea descent and strongly affiliated with Iwi.

    Toheiti: The Foundation of Reo Māori for Beginners Toheiti, the beginner's level of Reo Māori within our Tohekura program. This stage is designed for new learners and provides the essential foundation needed to embark on their language journey. ​​ As a seed requires nutrient-rich soil, water, and sunlight to grow, our Toheiti learners need the right environment and resources to flourish in their Reo Māori education. At Toheiti, we ensure our learners have everything they need to thrive.

  • Tohemata - Intermediate Level

    Tohemata: Nurturing Growth in Intermediate Reo Learning Tohemata represents the intermediate level of Reo learning, acting as the vital keepers of the seed. Their role is to foster and ensure that growth flourishes deeply within the heart, soul, and mind of each learner. This stage is meticulously nourished, ensuring that the branches of knowledge and cultural understanding grow vigorously and robustly.

  • Tohekī - Medium to Advanced

    Tohekī: Nurturing the Growth of Te Reo Māori Tohekī are the dedicated caretakers of emerging talents, much like the nurturers of young saplings. Their mission is to continuously source and provide the nourishment needed to foster lush and thriving growth. In the Tohekī program, participants are immersed in an environment that encourages the flourishing of their linguistic abilities.

  • Tohetoa - Advanced Reo Māori

    Tohetoa: Mastering Te Reo and Tīkanga At the pinnacle of our language journey is the Tohetoa level, an advanced Te reo programme designed for those who have diligently nurtured their skills and cultural understanding. Just as a tree flourishes under careful care, spreading its branches wide and far in full bloom, participants in the Tohetoa level demonstrate a deep and comprehensive proficiency in both speaking the language and understanding the customs.
