Whānau Resilience Kaimahi

Te āheinga - The opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate Whānau Resilience Kaimahi to join our team. This role is part of the E Tū Whānau Violence Prevention initiative, working alongside whānau to support long-term healing and recovery from trauma, violence, and dysfunction. You will deliver services that strengthen whānau, build protective factors, and create safe, nurturing environments for future generations.

Ngā Kawenga me ngā Mahi – Duties & responsibilities:

  • Work directly with whānau to support long-term healing and recovery from trauma, violence, and dysfunction. This includes individual sessions and group programme delivery.

  • Implement the Whakatipu model of care, including stages such as intake, assessment, planning, goal setting, review, and discharge.

  • Complete Whakatipu and Te Herema assessments, develop Path Plans, and regularly review and update goals with whānau.

  • Maintain accurate and timely data entry in Ara Whānui and other client management systems.

  • Work alongside other Kaimahi within the Eastern Bay Iwi Provider Alliance to ensure integrated and culturally grounded service delivery.

  • Participate in events, wānanga, and initiatives that strengthen whānau resilience and promote wellbeing.

Ngā wheako me ngā pūkenga - Experience & Skills required:

  • A registered social worker, or currently studying towards a qualification in social work, counselling, or a related field, or motivated to begin a social work career pathway after working as a support worker or similar.

  • Understanding of tikanga Māori and experience engaging with whānau, hapū, and iwi.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to build trust and maintain positive relationships.

  • Ability to manage challenges and maintain a positive approach in complex situations.

  • Clear, concise, and empathetic communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Ability to see the big picture, anticipate needs, and make informed decisions.

  • Competent in Microsoft Office 365 and client database systems for accurate reporting and record management.

  • Strong time management and ability to prioritise tasks effectively.

  • A Clean Full NZ driver’s license.
