(Te Pou Oranga Whaiora)

Te āheinga - The opportunity:

This is an exciting opportunity to join Te Pou Oranga o Te Whakatōhea in developing and strengthening our Iwi-led service, led by Whakatōhea and in collaboration with our Eastern Bay Iwi Provider Alliance partners (Tūwharetoa ki Kāwerau, Tūhoe Hauora and Te Tohu o Te Ora o Ngāti Awa), providing Kaupapa Māori-based healing and support for whaiora and their whānau experiencing methamphetamine addiction.

As the Manager, you are supported by a Practice Manager and Clinical Lead, that will oversee a team of 15+ additional clinical and non-clinical kaimahi (practitioners, registered nurses, clinicians, social workers, support workers, educators and security) who deliver care and programs both within the 8-bed residential, and community services for clients that are low-moderate risk.

Ngā Kawenga me ngā Mahi – Duties & responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage daily operations across community, clinical, and residential settings.

  • Provide professional and clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team.

  • Ensure service delivery reflects Kaupapa Māori principles, tikanga, and mana-enhancing practice.

  • Oversee referrals, assessments, and supported care pathways between community-based and residential services.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with iwi partners, health providers, whānau, and community networks.

  • Manage service performance, quality assurance, and continuous improvement, ensuring certification is achieved.

  • Support the growth and development of kaimahi, including professional development planning, supervision pathways, and capability building aligned to their aspirations.

  • Prepare accurate, timely, and high-quality reports to the funder, ensuring contract requirements and outcome measures are met.

  • Manage budgets, resource allocation, and operational planning to support sustainable service delivery.

  • Support a collaborative and compassionate team culture grounded in our Organisation's uara.

  • Drive continuous improvement, quality assurance, and service innovation aligned with Kaupapa Māori principles.

Ngā wheako me ngā pūkenga - Experience & Skills required:

  • Relevant qualifications in Social Work, Nursing, Counselling, Psychology, Addictions, and management or related fields.

  • Previous experience in a clinical lead role, as a registered practitioner (highly desirable), or as a service delivery manager within health, social services, or within a residential or similar environment.

  • Experience in mental health, addictions, social services, or related health environments.

  • Proven leadership experience, including staff supervision, coaching, or team development.

  • Understanding of Kaupapa Māori models of practice and confidence working in Māori-led environments.

  • Experience in service planning, quality improvement, and operational management.

  • Confident in reporting to funders, meeting contract deliverables, and demonstrating outcomes.

  • Experience with budget management and sound decision-making regarding resource use.

  • Commitment to nurturing kaimahi development, wellbeing, skills growth, and leadership potential.

  • IT competence; proficient using systems, with the ability to collaborate digitally and familiar with systems such as Microsoft 365, Monday.com, SharePoint, Teams, Zoom, Employment Hero, file management systems, or CRM, in line with the Privacy Act 2020.

  • Te Reo Māori competence is highly desirable.

  • Embedded in Whakatōhea tikanga, kawa and whakapapa, with strong whānau, hapū and iwi connections and understanding of our aspirations, (advantageous).
