Te āheinga - The opportunity:
The Practice Nurse provides Primary care nursing support, patient interventions and treatment within the Health Centre. As part of the general practice team you will work within your scope of practice and be responsible for providing patient-centred, culturally appropriate and individual holistic care to patients.
The Practice Nurse works closely with doctors and other team members to provide efficient, effective, professional nursing services. We are open to applications for both full-time and part-time positions.
Ngā Kawenga me ngā Mahi – Duties & responsibilities:
Provide Primary Care Nursing Services as follows:
Urgent triage (including resuscitation, stabilisation and assisting with assessment as necessary);
Assessment of the urgency and severity of presenting problems through history taking, and examination before referral to the appropriate GP. Assessment can be via telephone or 1:1 consultation with patient.
Follow-up of patient test results and communication
with patients where appropriate.
Undertaking treatment options and carrying out appropriate clinical interventions and procedures, including but not limited to counselling, advising and providing information.
Set-up and assist with minor surgery.
Health screening.
Acting as a chaperone as required.
Attending home visits as requested.
Comply with the requirements of the Privacy Act2003 and HIPC 2004.
Comply with the HDC Patient Code of Rights.
Comply with established health and safety policies regarding handling of instruments, infection control, storage of drugs and disposal of sharps and other potentially dangerous equipment and substances. Comply with current NZ legislation.
All complaints to be referred to the Practice Manager in the first instance.
Complies with practice procedures/policies

Ngā wheako me ngā pūkenga - Experience & Skills required:
Registered Nurse qualification with a current practising certificate in New Zealand.
Proven experience providing acute primary nursing care services, including urgent triage, assessment of presenting problems, and clinical interventions.
Competence in urgent triage procedures, including resuscitation, stabilisation, cannulation, and assisting with assessments as necessary.
Familiarity with standardised standing orders for treatment or referral, including referral to general practice, ambulance services, and on-call GPs.
Adherence to privacy regulations such as the Privacy Act 2003 and HIPC 2004, as well as compliance with the HDC Patient Code of Rights.
Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
