Early Childcare Education Teachers

Te āheinga - The opportunity

As a teacher of Te Puna O Tarawa, our early childhood education centre your key role is to support the Team Leader and other Centre staff in the delivery of an educational programme that is aligned to Te Whāriki (ECE Curriculum).

Ngā Kawenga me ngā Mahi – Duties & responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and implementation of individual early childhood education plans for each child.

  • Assist to provide high quality educative interaction and engagement with all children.

  • Provide care and support for all children, parents, and caregivers.

  • Participate in ensuring compliance with the ECE Code of Ethics.

  • Contribute to reflecting on the overall teaching programme in the Centre and act on areas where improvement is needed.

  • Participate in curriculum assessment and evaluation practices.

  • Participate in monthly mentoring and team meetings.

  • Participate in daily teaching activities through the sharing of information and knowledge and identification of teamwork.

  • Safe and healthy work practices are followed in compliance with company policies, procedures, relevant work standards and OSH statutory obligations.

 

Ngā wheako me ngā pūkenga - Experience & Skills required:

  • Bachelor of Education Teaching Early Years Degree, or Diploma in Early Childhood Education, or relevant equivalent tertiary qualification or certificated teacher.

  • Sound working knowledge of Te Whāriki.

  • Current First Aid Certificate.

  • Current Full Driver’s License.

  • Proactive, interactive, engaging, and supportive in dealings with children and their whānau.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to on-going professional development.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the Treaty of Waitangi, Te Reo and tikanga Māori within the early childhood education sector.

  • Experience working with Māori whānau.

  • The ability to speak Te Reo will be highly regarded.

  • Demonstrate highly effective communication skills when interacting with children, colleagues and family/whānau.
