Biodiversity Lead - Kaikōkiri Rerenga Rauropi
Te āheinga - The opportunity:
The Biodiversity Lead - Kaikōkiri Rerenga Rauropi will collaborate with the Toi Ora Environmental Manager to achieve Toi Ora’s strategic environmental goals. You will oversee a range of environmental projects aimed at ensuring protection, restoration and enhancement of the native ecosystems within the Whakatōhea rohe.
Ngā Kawenga me ngā Mahi – Duties & responsibilities:

Lead the Tiaki Taiao team in their projects and programmes, including pest control, weed control, track and field maintenance, flora and fauna monitoring, planting and restoration, data collection and storage.

Oversee project contractors ensuring adherence to project plans, safety protocols, and environmental standards.

Conduct regular site inspections and quality assessments.

Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and documentation for stakeholders and funding sources.

Adhere to H&S policies and procedures and conduct risk analysis (RAM) as per policy.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with local hapū, marae committees, government agencies, non-profits, and other stakeholders.

Facilitate regular meetings to provide updates on project progress and address concerns.

Support community engagement initiatives by organizing events, workshops, and educational programs to raise awareness and involvement.
Ngā wheako me ngā pūkenga - Experience & Skills required:

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent field experience) in Environmental Management or Science, Project Management or Environmental Planning.

Proven project management experience.

Experience in conducting and interpreting environmental impact assessments and audits.

Knowledge of local and national environmental regulations and policies.

Proven experience in environmental monitoring, data collection, and site assessments.

Strong administration skills and experience in report writing.

Team leadership and management experience.
