Registering on the Tribal Database
If you consider you whakapapa to Whakatōhea and you are 18 years or over you should register in your own right. You can register your children under the age of 18 years on your form.
Why Register?
Registering as a beneficiary of the Whakatōhea Māori Trust Board allows the Board to:
- Identify and access those registered people who are entitled to benefit from distribution, scholarship, and other assistance
- Identify and access those registered people who are able to offer skills and/or services
- Identify and access those registered people who are eligible to participate in Whakatōhea Māori Trust Board elections
- Add to the Whakatōhea Whakapapa database.
- Enable the Whakatōhea Māori Trust Board to develop communication networks including dissemination of valuable information.

You can find out if you are registered on the Tribal Database by contacting Lesley McLean at the Registrations office. Lesley can be contact on 07 315 6150 or by email at register@whakatohea.co.nz . Please have your name, date of birth and parents names handy when making inquries.
New Registrations
New tribal database registrations need to be completed on application forms. Please contact the Whakatōhea Māori Trust Board using the form below for an application form, or click here to download and print the form.
Changing My Details
Changing your details on the Tribal Database is easy. Download, print and complete a "Registration Ammendment Form" here and send it in to the Trust Board.
Privacy
Any information received will be held by, or for the Whakatōhea Māori Trust Board and certain bodies related to the Board. You have certain rights under the Privacy Act 1993 to see and correct personal information that the Board holds about you.
The information will be used to enable Whakatōhea Māori Trust Board to identity as many Whakatōhea individuals as possible, including the marae and hapu to which they affiliate, so that as many individuals as possible are informed of Whakatōhea matters. The information will also be used to identify those who may take part in any electoral process relating to Whakatōhea and/or derive any entitlements as Beneficiaries in the future.
