Governance

There are six hapū in the Whakatōhea rohe, each hapū has two representatives on the Whakatōhea Maori Trust Board.  These twelve members make up the Trust Board and are elected by postal ballot triennially and appointed pursuant to section 14(2) of the Māori Trust Boards Act 1955.

Board elections take place on a three yearly basis. Elections will take place in October / November 2011. To be eligible to vote in the elections you need to be registered as a beneficairy on the tribal database. Click here to find out more about registering.
