Beneficiary Assistance

Education Grants

The Whakatōhea Māori Trust Board allocates a portion of its annual income for educational purposes by way of grants to Whakatōhea beneficiaries aged 18 years or over.

Applicants must meet the following criteria for consideration:

  • Be in full time study (34+ weeks in the year).
  • Be attending a nationally registered tertiary institution such as university, polytechnic, training college or whare wānanga.
  • Not be in full time employment.

Applications open mid February.

Pātaka Kai

The pātaka kai scheme is the supply of kaimoana from Aotearoa Fisheries Limited for designated events. At this point Whakatōhea has reserved this koha for tangihanga  held on Whakatōhea marae.

Allowance must be made for a minimum 24 hour notice and that deliveries over the weekend cannot be garaunteed, although there may be opportunities for the kaimoana to be picked up direct from either Auckland and / or Tauranga. Delivery is to the offices of the Whakatōhea Māori Trust Board, 122 St John Street, Opotiki.
